  • White vinegar
  • Bowl
  • Empty shampoo bottle

Dog shampoos can be expensive and if your dog’s skin is sensitive, dog shampoo can actually irritate your dog’s skin. This is because dog shampoos often contain extra chemicals. Making your own shampoo at home is a much better choice. Your dog can then use a product that is all natural and good for his skin as well as his fur.

Step 1

Pour 16 oz. of Ivory dish soap in a bowl.

Step 2

Add 1 tsp. of glycerin to the bowl. You can find glycerin at a pharmacy like CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens.

Step 3

Pour in 2 tsp. of white vinegar and combine.

Step 4

Use a funnel to get the mixture from the bowl into an empty shampoo bottle.

Step 5

Place the cap on the bottle and add a sticky label. On the label write the name of your dog so that no one in your family accidentally uses it.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : Start with a quarter size amount of dog shampoo and work it into the dog’s fur. Slowly add more as needed.
  • WARNING : Do not use any other dish soap besides Ivory, Dove or Palmolive. Any other brand will mess with the pH balance that your dog needs.
